NASA astronauts Nicole Mann and Doug Wheelock recently participated in testing a sub-scale mockup elevator for SpaceX’s Starship human landing system (HLS) at the company’s Hawthorne, California headquarters. Astronaut input is a vital component of spacecraft design, giving the people who will actually use the equipment a chance to test progress so far and to provide feedback from a crew perspective. This feedback often informs and evolves the design.

SpaceX launched another group of Starlink satellites from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station late Saturday evening. The mission, designated as Starlink 5-31, added more Starlink satellites into the burgeoning constellation of over 5,500 small satellites providing Internet access from virtually anywhere globally. The launch occurred at the start of the launch window on a mostly cloudy, humid Florida evening at 11:00 PM Eastern Standard Time.

SpaceX continued their torrid pace of Falcon 9 launches from Florida Monday evening when the company lofted another twenty-three Starlink satellites to low Earth orbit.
Liftoff occurred at 11:2opm Eastern time from launch pad SLC-40 Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, and is the 57th such mission in 2023 for the company.
Overall, SpaceX has completed 87 orbital launches this year, with 83 of them being carried by their Falcon9 booster, and 4 others being aboard the larger Falcon Heavy. Their next launch from Florida is slated for Friday evening from Cape Canaveral.

SpaceX launched their 29th Commercial Resupply Services mission on November 10, 2023, sending roughly 6,500 pounds of research gear, supplies and equipment to the International Space Station. The company launched a Falcon 9 from LC-39A at Kennedy Space Center, and the first stage booster landed a few miles south at LZ-1 approximately eight minutes later.

How To Take a Launch Streak Shot
If you are visiting Florida and want to create a great launch photograph but the launch is at night, take a look at this relatively simple technique that will yield some awesome results: a launch streak shot.

Launch streaks are not difficult for nearly any photographer to create, and it doesn’t take any specialized equipment other than a wide-angle lens and a relatively inexpensive shutter release cable used to keep the shutter of your camera open for several minutes during the flight of the rocket. You’ll also need a tripod that can support the camera as well.
Below is a basic procedure and you too can create a memorable photo that will be one that you keep for years.
