Space Coast Air Show, May 21, 2022

The Space Coast Air Show was held May 21-22, 2022 at Space Coast Regional Airport, the airport formerly known as Tico Airport. Turnout was good, with a healthy crowd of several thousand people on hand to see some of the best military and stunt aircraft in American history on display. Here are some photos from Saturday, May 21st.

The F-22 Raptor
Perhaps the fastest and most maneuverable fighter jet in the world today, the F-22’s twin engines produce more thrust than any other fighter currently in service. The F-22 can “Supercruise” at 1.5 times the speed of sound without using fuel consuming afterburner.

“Vaping” or adiabatic cooling, is the result of air pressure being sufficiently low to allow condensation from ambient humidity.

B-25 Mitchell “Killer Bee”
The B-25 was a medium bomber first introduced 1941 and named in honor of Major General William “Billy” Mitchell, a pioneer of U.S. military aviation. The B-25 served in every theater of World War II, nearly 10,000 B-25s were built.
