SpaceX, Falcon 9, Galileo L12, April 27, 2024

On a somewhat unexpectedly cool, brisk evening on the Space Coast with passing showers in Titusville and other locations nearby Kennedy Space Center, SpaceX launched two navigation satellites for the European Space Agency. Liftoff was at 08:34 PM EDT from Pad LC-39A at KSC. Liftoff and ascent to orbit was successful.

Notable: Booster B1060 Finishes Its Career On A High Note

Tonight marked the twentieth and final mission for SpaceX’s B1060 first stage booster, as performance requirements to loft the payload required a rare expendable mission for a Falcon 9 rocket. After main-engine cutoff and stage separation, B1060 fell into the Atlantic Ocean and will presumably sink to its final rest place underwater.
